Luxury footwear brand Repetto has told local media in France that it intends to double the production space at its factory in Saint-Médard d'Excideuil in the Dordogne and increase its daily output to 6,000 or 7,000 pairs per day. Its current production capacity is around 500,000 pairs a year.

Famous for ballet shoes, the company also makes fashion shoes for men, women and children in high-end leather, including exotic leather. It runs its own training centre at Coulaures, near the factory. It is currently taking part in a job-creation initiative that it hopes will help it find 150 new skilled workers in four years. Each candidate will undergo six months’ training at Repetto.

The company employs 170 in Saint-Médard at the moment.
