Portuguese brands make impression on northern Europe

National footwear industry association APICCAPS has said that Portugal’s footwear manufacturers achieved sales of EUR 1.23 billion in the first nine months of 2011.

The organisation said that this amounted to almost the same amount as the Portuguese footwear industry achieved in the whole of 2010 and represents growth of 17%.

Almost all (95%) of the shoes produced in Portugal go for export, with retailers in 130 countries sourcing some of their footwear stock from there. APICCAPS said Portuguese shoe brands, including
Dkode, Nobrand, Camport, Eject, Mack James, Softwaves, Fly London, had made a particularly positive impression on markets in northern Europe.
