India releases footwear export values for first eight months

Indian leather sector exports during the first eight months of the current financial year (April-November 2011) increased in value by 3.9% to $2.4 billion from $2.3 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Exports of leather footwear were up by 3.5% to $919.9 million from $888.9 million for the same months in 2010.

However, exports of footwear components fell by 3.7% to $153.2 million from $159.2 and exports of non-leather shoes fell by 15.2% to $8.6 million from $10.2 million a year earlier.
