Spanish footwear chain Marypaz has acquired a retail company in Portugal allowing it to open 45 new shoe stores in the neighbouring country. The Seville-based company said it would open all 45 news stores in December.

Ranging in size from 300 to 400 square-metres, the 45 new shops will be spread across the principal Portuguese population centres.

Marypaz already has 400 stores, mostly in Spain, and around 1,500 employees; it achieved a turnover of EUR 120 million in 2010. The company specialises in affordable fashion shoes for women, with its ranges retailing for an average price of around EUR 30 per pair.
