Wenzhou: footwear exports up 25%

According to the foreign trade department in Wenzhou city, China, the city’s footwear exports reached $4 billion in the first ten months, up 25.1% year-on-year.

According to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), as of this October there were 1,246 foreign trade shoemakers in Wenzhou city, 204 more than the numbers in the same period of 2010.

Exports of footwear made of synthetic material increased the most, following by fabric and leather shoes. The sales price was up 10.4% from the previous year of $5.7 to $6.3 per pair.

Footwear exported to Switzerland and Croatia saw a high growth of 79.1% and 60.8% respectively, followed by Russia, the US and Germany with a growth more than 25%.
