Tamara Mellon leaves Jimmy Choo
Tamara Mellon, co-founder and chief creative officer of UK footwear company Jimmy Choo, has decided to leave her position at the company, the Financial Times has reported. Ms Mellon helped set up the brand 15 years ago.
Current Jimmy Choo chief executive Joshua Schulman has also resigned and will be leaving the company in 2012.
Ms Mellon’s departure marks the end of her professional relationship with Malaysian-born designer Jimmy Choo, who set up the brand with Ms Mellon while he was working as a cobbler in East London.
The business was recently bought for over $800 million by Labelux, a European private luxury group.
“Jimmy Choo is an outstanding brand with enormous growth potential and the ability to deliver material growth synergies across our group. With a successful transition behind them, we respect their wish to move on to other challenges,” said Reinhard Mieck, chief executive of Labelux.
