Brazilian footwear firm to invest in Nicaragua
18/10/2011
An initial investment of $6 million will allow Tecshoes to create 1,200 jobs in the next 18 months and produce up to 10,000 pairs of shoes a day. The factory will be located in the Tipitapa district of the capital city, Managua and will cover 11,000 square-metres of space. This will make it the second-largest footwear operation in Nicaragua after a factory established in 2010 by another Brazilian firm, Schmidt Irmaos.
The operation in Nicaragua will contribute to the shoes Aniger makes as an outsource manufacturing partner of Clarks. It will specialise in women’s shoes for that brand.
The investment project, which will be located in Tipitapa, Managua and with an industrial space of 11,000 square meters, will represent the country’s second large investment in the footwear sector, after Schmidt Irmaos, also a Brazilian company established in Nicaragua in 2010.
Aniger was founded in 1991 in the city of Campo Bom, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Across the group it produces a total of 25,000 pairs of shoes per day for three large clients: Clarks, Nike and Brazilian brand Miezko.
