Brazilian shoe firms benefit from franchising model
14/10/2011
The Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) has said that revenues from franchising will be worth $49.1 billion to Brazilian companies in 2011. Its president, Ricardo Camargo, told Reuters recently that two years ago there were 50 Brazilian brands with overseas franchises, but that the total now is nearly 80. He said ABF is aiming to have 120 brands involved three years from now.
His organisation has said footwear brands such as Arezzo, Carmen Steffens and Via Uno have been among the success stories for ABF. Via Uno, for example, is bringing in an estimated 10% of its revenue from franchises, of which it currently has 60 in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Panama.
