US-based sports footwear and apparel manufacturer, Nike has reported a 15% rise in its first-quarter profits due to increased sales of athletic apparels and sneakers around the world.

CEO Mark Parker said that the customers are purchasing their products despite the weak economy and uncertain conditions. North American markets saw an increase in sales of up to 16%. In the emerging markets, the company’s revenue increased 35% on average.

The market in Western Europe was the only one where the sales grew, but the revenue stood the same.
