PrimeAsia Vietnam maintains LWG gold status

LWG is a multi-stakeholder group that assesses the environmental performance of tanneries and awards gold, silver and bronze status to those achieving the best results. It was formed as a collaboration between footwear brands and tanneries to assess the compliance and environmental performance of tanners and to promote sustainable and appropriate environmental business practices within the footwear and leather industry.
PrimeAsia says it has recognised the value of the protocol from its inception, both as a means of demonstrating its environmental credentials to customers and the consumer, and as a tool to promote environmental responsibility and ongoing improvement initiatives. Its facilities in Vietnam and in China have gold status, while its third tannery in Taiwan has silver.
The company has said that the recent re-accreditation of the tannery in Vietnam demonstrates its “ongoing commitment to full environmental transparency”. The tannery in Ba Ria-Vung Tua also won the regional Tannery of the Year award for Asia excluding China in 2010.
