Footwear contributes to growth in Guanajuato

01/08/2011
Manufacturing output in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, one of the country’s most important centres for footwear production, rose by 7% in the first five months of 2011 compared to the same months in 2010.

The state’s secretary for sustainable economic development, Ramón Alfaro Gómez, announced the increase on August 1 and said that it reflects growing confidence in economic recovery in Guanajuato and rising investment from the private sector.

He said that the sectors showing the greatest growth included shoe manufacturing.
