Tunisia: footwear and leather exports up 16.3%

Tunisia’s footwear and leather exports have increased to $395.4 million during the six months ended June 30, 2011, showing a rise of 16.3% on the exports registered during corresponding period last year (worth $339.8 million), according to the June 2011 report of the National Centre for Leather and Footwear (CNCC).

 

During the six-month period, the country’s leather and footwear imports also registered a rise of 11.4% growing from last year’s $227.2 million to $253.1 million this year. The country achieved a positive industry net balance of $142.3 million.

 

Tunisia mainly ships leather and footwear products to Italy, France and Germany each of which imported items worth $184 million, $119.4 million and $42.1 million respectively during the period.

 

Italy, France and Germany each with 48.2%, 23.3% and 9.2% share respectively are the main countries from which Tunisia imported these items.
