Growth continues in Vietnam

The total estimated value of exports from Vietnam during the first five months of 2011 is $34.7 billion. Of this, the share of leather footwear and leathergoods was $2.9 billion, which shows growth of 35.1% compared to the figure for the same period in 2010, the General Statistics Office of Vietnam has said.

Footwear exports accounted for nearly $2.4 billion and registered growth of 32.7%.

Growth in exports of handbags, wallets and other leathergoods was almost 47.5% as these items earned Vietnam $525 million in export revenues over the five-month period.
