Footwear leads in Italy’s sales increase
Italian retail sales rose strongly in April, driven by footwear and food purchases, national statistics agency Istat said on 24 June 2011.
Retail sales Italy rose 0.4% in April from March in seasonally adjusted terms, and were up 2.5% from April 2010 in unadjusted terms, Istat said. The jump follows a 0.2% monthly decline in retail sales during March.
The fastest-growing category of goods sold were shoes and leathergoods, which rose 5.7% from April 2010, Istat said.
