Strong recovery overseas for Spanish footwear components

Spain’s association of footwear components and machinery manufacturers (AEC) has reported combined sales of EUR 246 million in 2010, an increase of 15% on the year before.

AEC president, Manuel Román, said the results were on a par with those of 2007, which he regarded as “very positive”. He continued: “The figures have borne out our perception that there has been a strong recovery for our products in international markets, even though the domestic market, which still accounts for 60% of sales, is somewhat sluggish.”

Spain has 437 footwear component manufacturers, employing a combined total of 7,925 people.
