Entrepreneurs eye Les Tanneries du Puy

17/06/2011
A decision on the future of French tanning group Les Tanneries du Puy will be made on July 8.

The company went into administration in April 2010, but the courts have allowed the management team time to find new owners.

Reports from France suggest two realistic proposals are on the table, both of which will mean the tannery in Le Puy en Velay in central France will continue to operate, with all workers keeping their jobs. The tannery has around 70 employees.

One proposal has come from Jean-Michel Soquet, an entrepreneur who recently sold a spa and beauty treatment resort. The other is from Denis Lemercier from a holding company called EPI, which has close links to luxury footwear brand Weston, a long-standing and important customer of Les Tanneries du Puy.
