Specialty chemicals provider Clariant has developed a new topcoat for classic shoe upper and handbag leathers, the Aqualen Top GC-2031.B.

This aqueous compound is a balanced mix of polymers and additives that Clariant says will help tanners to achieve “the highest gloss levels while maintaining the natural appearance of the leather”. Aqualen Top GC-2031.B does not need any other addition than a crosslinker and water.

According to the company, its main characteristics are that it is easy to use, gives high gloss and a natural feel. It also offers plate-ability at high temperature, good rub and flexometer values and good inter-adhesion.
