Timberland plants trees in Haiti

US-based footwear and apparel company Timberland has pledged to plant up to a million trees in Haiti.

The firm has said it will plant one tree in Haiti for every virtual tree planted via its ‘Virtual Forest’ application on Facebook. Company spokesman Jim Davey says the company wants to return the spotlight to often-overlooked Arbor Day, which will be celebrated on April 29 this year.

The company’s Facebook page also features a ‘hortiscope quiz’ that tells people what kind of tree they most identify with.
