Malaysian footwear festival to feature giant chocolate shoe

07/04/2011

A giant three metre-long chocolate shoe will be on show at the Malaysian International Shoe Festival (MISF), 7-10 April, 2011.

The delectable shoe, which will be entered into the Malaysia Book of Records, is a scale model of an actual Nyonya-beaded wedding shoe that will be made using 130 kilograms of chocolate. The shoe will be made by YTL Hotel chief artist Frankie Lee using black chocolate, marzipan and cocoa.

Malaysian Footwear Manufacturers Association (MFMA) president Tony Ting said Nyonya culture was a distinctive local heritage that fascinated many around the world. He said other attractions would include the Shoe History Gallery, in which a collection of around 10 pairs of rare old shoes will be displayed.

He added that there would be a special area displaying the shoe-making process.
