Amann Group to strengthen in Asia with Bangladesh plant

01/04/2011
Sewing thread manufacturer the Amann Group has made a strategic decision to strengthen its position in growth markets in Asia.

To serve the needs of the Chinese market in particular, and to speed up delivery times, the company has completed the construction of a new cutting-edge production facility in Yancheng, in Jiangsu Province, 270 km north-east of Shanghai.

A twisting plant opened there last year, and now has a twisting capacity of around 2,700 tonnes of thread per year from polyester or polyamide filaments. Now, the Amann Sewing Threads Company has also begun production at the Yangcheng site in a state-of-the-art thread production facility with fully automated dye house. It has a capacity of 3,000 tonnes a year. The plant can offer customer-specific dyeing, or dye-to-match, which Amann says is in strong demand in Asia.

All manufacturing is carried out to European quality standards and will be certified to ISO 9001.

The company is also building a new fully-integrated production facility in Mawna, Gazipur, in Bangladesh, which will have an annual capacity of 3,000 tonnes. From 2013, the new factory will produce top-quality sewing thread. A further new production site in India is also on the drawing board, the company said.
