HDS presents prizes at GDS
17/03/2011
Popular television host Frauke Ludowig was named as Germany's Shoe Woman of the Year because of her ability to highlight "stylish outfits with elegant, often extraordinary shoes".
Separately, the German Shoe Award for 2011, which celebrates the country's outstanding shoe manufacturers, went to Berkemann, a company from Zeulenroda in Thuringia. HDS praised the company and its designer, Adeline Lengkeek, for Berkemann's "smart and minimalist, austere and unconventional" collections.
The HDS Junior Award, which honours creative new designers, went this year to a design team composed of Karoline Angné, Karin Davis, Sophie Hetzel and Valerie Porr, all students at the University of Applied Sciences in Kaiserlautern.
GDS runs from March 16-18.
