CLIA urges caution after anti-dumping

The director of footwear at the China Leather Industry Association, Wei Yafei, has warned Chinese shoe manufacturers to “follow the regulations and rules” when exporting to Europe after the removal of 16.5% anti-dumping duties at the end of this month.

She warned that a surge of Chinese footwear to EU markets from April onwards could lead to new trade disputes. She also urged manufacturers not to ignore the domestic footwear market and suggested they work hard to keep improving the quality of the shoes they produce, saying that increasing quality rather than decreasing price was the best way to win more market share.
