Indian leather shoe exports break $1 billion in first ten months

During the first ten months of the current financial year (April 2010–January 2011), the value of India’s leather sector exports increased by almost 13.8% to $2.8 billion, from just less than $2.4 billion in the corresponding period last year.

The breakdown showed that exports of leather footwear increased by 17.7% to just over $1 billion from $897.2 million in the first ten months of last financial year.

However, exports of footwear components fell by 2.3% to $191.9 million.
