Beast to Beauty student wins her first order

One of the design students from different fashion colleges around the UK to have attended the Beast to Beauty conference on leather has secured an order for shoes she designed using fish leather.

London College of Fashion student Halldora Jonsdottir was one of 19 young designers to secure a place at the conference in June 2010 thanks to the support of the Leathersellers' Company in London. She had on display some fabulous heeled shoes made from salmon skin from her native Iceland, with a four-leaf clover motif, a symbol of luck in many countries.

It certainly proved lucky for Ms Jonsdottir because she subsequently received an order to make 600 pairs and has placed an order for the salmon and perch leather she needs with Icelandic tannery Atlantic Leather.
