Ecco to make Thailand its logistics hub in Asia

Reports from Thailand say that footwear brand Ecco will set up a logistics hub for its Asian business there, saying Thailand’s position on the map and ease-of-access to other countries in the region made it an ideal location.

The head of Ecco’s business in Thailand, Kitti Chaiwattanatorn, has told local media that distribution centre facilities the company has in Laem Chabang, near Bangkok, will be used to store and dispatch Ecco shoes manufactured in Indonesia, China, Thailand and India.

In addition, the Thai distribution centre will be used to store raw materials, including wet blue hides imported from the Americas and Europe, for finishing in Ecco’s own tanneries in China and Indonesia.
