Fiji: footwear and textile projects could create 6,000 jobs

27/01/2011
The government of Fiji has announced a new grant that will help footwear manufacturers create jobs in the Pacific island state.

The grant, which also covers textile projects, could lead to jobs for as many as 6,000 local people and take Fiji’s shoe and textile exports to a level of around $150 million a year.

Fiji’s government has also sponsored participation at trade fairs in Australia for trade delegations, promoting a wider ‘Make it in Fiji’ campaign.
