SOLE enlists Davenport to help design footbed

26/01/2011
Alberta-based footbed manufacturer SOLE has announced a collaboration with skier and mountaineer Chris Davenport to develop a snow sports-specific footbed. Available to consumers in early autumn 2011, the Signature CD Thin has been purpose-built to perform in winter environments.

It features a heat mouldable, shock-absorbing baselayer that provides a custom fit, excellent support, and optimal control. The footbed features a 3M Thinsulate insulating layer in a thin design for low-volume footwear. The base contains 20% recycled content and the moisture-wicking top sheet with Polygiene antimicrobial treatment contains 35% recycled content.

One dollar from the sale of every pair sold will be donated directly to Protect Our Winters (POW), a non-profit organisation dedicated to uniting and actively engaging the global snow sports community to fight against climate change.

“I’ve been using SOLE’s products for a few years already, so I was thrilled to join their team and provide input in the design process,” said Chris Davenport. “A supportive footbed that provides a precise fit and aids in alignment is one of the most important, often overlooked pieces of ski gear.”
