Shishi shoe exports up 35%

According to the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), statistics released from the Fujian Bureau of Inspection and Guarantee have confirmed that shoe exports from Shishi city, in Fujian province, southeast China, increased 16.1% in 2010 to 36.61 million pairs, for which the value stood at $170 million, up 35.8%.

The city has 39 shoe producers that mainly process leather shoes and walking shoes and export them to countries including Russia, the US, Cuba, Chile and the UK.

The bureau said that the quality and properties of shoes had improved overall in 2010.
