H&M to sell clogs by Hasbeens

20/01/2011

Swedish shoe brand Hasbeens has secured a deal with Swedish fashion retailer H&M to supply a range of clogs for the spring-summer 2011 season. Wooden-soled footwear is set to be a big fashion trend for 2011 and three Hasbeens designs in various colours will be exclusive to H&M this spring.

“I love the genuine feeling you get from Hasbeens, from the wood and the leather, and also how they take something traditional and Swedish and make it contemporary and modern,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design. “These Hasbeens for H&M fit perfectly with the ’70s bohemian look that’s so important this coming season.”

H&M has previously teamed up with more established fashion labels such as Jimmy Choo and Lanvin.

“Working with Hasbeens should work well for them, so long as they re-invent the clog to match the style and look of this spring-summer,” said Honor Westnedge, associate retail analyst at Verdict Research who believes the Hasbeens collaboration is a shrewd move by the retailer. “It’s reported that the clogs will come in cream and tan, which will go with this season’s trend of nude hues and flesh tones.”

The Hasbeens toffels, bags and belts are based on original ’70s models and are made of ecologically prepared natural grain leather, the company claims.

They are handmade with respect for the environment in a small Swedish factory.

In 2009, Hasbeens became one of Sweden’s fastest growing fashion brands and currently sell in 15 countries.
