Departures at Deckers

17/12/2010

Evan Mason, European vice president of footwear group Deckers Outdoor Corporation, is to leave the company at the end of December 2010. Mr Mason, who has been with Deckers for nearly ten years, is returning to South Africa with his wife and colleague, UGG brand director Debi Molton, who is also leaving the company.

Gianni Georgiades, former commercial director at UK designer brand John Richmond, will replace Ms Molton. Deckers chief operating officer Zohar Ziv will assume Mr Mason’s responsibilities while the company looks for a replacement.

Deckers chairman and chief executive Angel Martinez said: “After many years of excellent service to Deckers, Evan and his wife, Debi Molton, are returning to South Africa to be closer to family and to devote their time and significant talents to the community and country they love. We continue to look for Evan’s replacement, which is not an easy task. He has been an integral part of our organization for nearly a decade, and we are grateful for the enormous contributions of both he and Debi.”

The departures come after David Ward, UK general manager at Deckers left the company in early December 2010 after just six months. Mr Ward was hired by Deckers in July, shortly after it ended its UK distribution deal with AMG. He was charged with overseeing the distribution of all of Deckers’ brands in the UK and Republic of Ireland including UGG from January 2011.
