Rogers makes Poron greener

Footwear technology provider Rogers Corporation has announced that its Poron ReSource performance cushioning material is now produced using 46% less petroleum-based chemicals, over twice the amount used in the first-generation material.

Rogers has said that while it maintains its commitment to serving the global marketplace with innovative products, it is also working to improve the environmental impact of its products and business processes. As a result, all Poron materials are developed to be free of latex, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and heavy metals.

Poron ReSource is manufactured using a soy-based polyol, which replaces over 45% of the petroleum-based chemicals, and is carefully sourced through a partnership with a US supplier. “The ongoing search for more sustainable material and processing advancements will continue at Rogers, where environmental stewardship is a cornerstone of our global business operations,” said senior product manager Nicole Perry. “We are our proud to introduce the next generation of Poron ReSource cushioning to help our manufacturing partners reduce their environmental footprint without sacrificing product quality or performance.”
