Poland proves attractive

A new study from a footwear exporters’ association in the Valencia region (Cavex) has concluded that Poland could prove to be an exciting market for Spanish shoes next year.

Cavex has invited footwear brands from the region to apply to take part in an assisted promotions programme in Poland, saying the market there offers good potential for growth thanks to growth in the country’s economy and the stability of the market there.

The organisation’s director, Clara Aura, has described the eastern European country as an emerging market that represents a good business option for member companies, while pointing out that footwear brands will still need to work hard and follow the right strategy to turn the possibilities into a real success story. She pointed out that, even in 2009 in the middle of the global economic downturn, Poland registered economic growth of 1.8%.

Poland imported footwear with a total value of EUR 803 million in 2009, according to official figures. Only 2.9% of these imports, in volume, were from Spain and Spanish brands occupy only tenth place in the Polish footwear important league table at the moment.
