India: April-October leather footwear exports close to $2 billion

The value of India’s leather exports, including footwear, increased by 17.9% to $1.97 billion during the first seven months of the current financial year (April-October), compared to $1.67 billion in the corresponding period of the last financial year.

In local currency terms, growth was smaller at 9.8%.

The breakdown showed that exports of leather footwear went up in value by 22.4% to $728.2 million from $594.9 million, and footwear components by 2.5% to $137.9 million from $134.5 million.
