Lectra celebrates success of cutting system

Textile industry technology provider Lectra has announced that sales of the latest generation of its Vector automated cutting system have passed the 1,000 mark, with sales increasing by 70% in 2010.

The company says the technology can help textile manufacturers in all parts of the world improve in finished product diversity, time-to-market, productivity, and quality, allowing user organisations to be more competitive.

On making the announcement about the 1,000 sales, Lectra argued that this competitive advantage is all the more important in light of increases in raw material prices, which it insists represent on average more than 50% of production costs, weighing heavily on industry professionals. “Cotton prices in particular have doubled since March 2009,” Lectra said in a note.

Chief executive, Daniel Harari, commented: “Our Vectors allow manufacturers to operate a just-in-time production model, optimise material use, and cut operating costs, while benefiting from high levels of productivity and a cutting quality unparalleled in the industry.”
