Italy’s National Institute of Statistics has issued official figures that show the country’s exports rose by 16.4% for September 2010, compared to the same month last year. Imports for the month were 23.9% higher.

Leather and leathergoods was one of the sectors that registered a high level of growth, 31.2% higher than September 2009. However, imported leathergoods showed an even greater increase, by 45.2%.
