The founder and president of footwear brand Geox, Mario Moretti Polegato, took part in a special presentation at the Italian National Science Festival in Genoa at the start of November.

He took part in a joint-presentation with Nobel-prize-winning chemist Gerhard Ertl, speaking to an audience of around 200 young people on the importance of ideas. In the build-up to the event, he said: “This festival is a practical and effective way to stimulate young people’s ideas. Thanks to innovation, Geox has become, in only a short time [the company was created in the 1990s] the biggest footwear company in Italy and number-two in its segment, comfort shoes, in the world. We have believed from the outset in creativity and in the spread of scientific culture.”
