Belgian boutique is part of Ferragamo celebration
02/11/2010
The shoes are from the Salvatore Ferragamo collection of footwear, which comprises more than 13,000 models collected in the course of 80 years. Ferragamo boutiques in Florence, Capri, Milan, Paris, New York, Tokyo and Mexico City will display shoes from the collection, as will multibrand stores in Milan, Seoul and London, and Coccodrillo in Antwerp.
The shoes will include the Lauren, a laced shoe with one set of eyelets, made from one-piece calf upper. It has two loops with calf laces at vamp centre, collar and back with stitched decoration, a raised toe and a wedge heel in cork covered with calf leather. It was created in 1946 for Hollywood actress Lauren Bacall.
The Sophia is another, a sandal made from gold kid leather and lace embroidered with Venetian glass beads. It has a stiletto heel and features Tavarnelle lace, a Tuscan handcraft technique much admired by Ferragamo. It was created in the mid-1950s for the actress Sofia Loren at the launch of a new collection of shoes by Ferragamo in the Grand Hotel in Rome.
The Romantica, a suede pump with stiletto heel and scalloped edges, will also feature. This model was one of Salvatore Ferragamo’s most successful creations in the 1950s and was based on the type of pump made for Marylin Monroe.
