Optimism among footwear component firms

President of the organisation, Manuel Román, has told media in Spain that a number of AEC members came back from the Simac exhibition in Bologna in mid-October in optimistic mood. "There are companies that came back from Bologna quite satisfied," Mr Román said, "and people are booking in more business than last year. It's clear there is a pick-up in business, you can see it. Companies have told us that they have experienced a growth in orders of between 5% and 20% compared to last year."
He explained that most of the increase in business was coming from orders from overseas because the domestic footwear industry is still slow, but he said he hoped orders from Spanish footwear manufacturers would follow.
