21/10/2010
Wisconsin-based Allen Edmonds Shoe Corporation has announced a $3 million expansion programme. The company is a privately held manufacturer of high-end men’s footwear and accessories. It shoes, which sell in high-end department stores and men’s outfitters across the US, Japan and Europe, and in the company’s 30 own-brand stores, are handcrafted at the company’s base in the town of Port Washington.

It will invest the money to expand production at its Port Washington manufacturing plant, creating up to 200 jobs in the process.

Half of the money is coming from the state of Wisconsin’s economic development programme as a loan to the company.

There will be expansions of the footwear firm’s warehouse and its handsewn and recraft lines. There will also be a new custom-made footwear line, and upgrades to the existing machinery and equipment. Allen Edmonds will also spend some of the money training new and existing employees on new production and distribution processes.
