Servis Group eyes Kenyan footwear market

Pakistani footwear manufacturer and exporter Servis Group has said it is looking to expand its global network by setting up operations in Kenya. The firm hopes to hold a 10% share of the Kenyan shoe market within the next two years.
Chief executive officer, Omar Saeed, says the company will import 80% of its stock from Pakistan and will source the remaining 20% from local factories. It is also considering the option of setting up its own factory in the African country. This, claims Mr Saeed, would give the local leather industry a boost and allow it to produce more affordable footwear."We want to compete in the retail sector. So we want to offer shoes for people who want branded footwear and from what I've seen, the branded footwear market is underserved. Customers need choices and that's the main reason we entered the Kenyan market," he told Capital FM.
