Micam visitor numbers up

The Chairman of the National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers (ANCI), Vito Artioli, has said the success of the most recent edition of the Micam high-end footwear exhibition in Milan, which ended on September 22, in attracting a higher number of visitors surpassed his expectations.

In total, the fair attracted 42,329 visitors, 6.2% more than the previous edition in September 2009. Of these, 21,103 visitors had travelled to Milan from outside Italy, a 2.2% increase on September. The number of Italian visitors increased by 10.5% to 21,226.

Around 1,600 exhibitors were showcasing their footwear collections for spring-summer 2011.

"The mood was really positive and sizeable orders were placed," Mr Artioli said.
