The chief executive of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), Kevin Burke, has said President Barack Obama should give immediate approval to an act designed to re-instate tariffs on manufactured goods including shoes.

Mr Burke said the US Manufacturing Enhancement Act, which has passed through the US senate by unanimous consent, will create jobs and help guarantee quality products for US consumers. He commented: “This legislation will bring direct and measurable benefits to our economy through job creation and the continuation of well-priced quality products. President Obama should sign this legislation as soon as it arrives on his desk.”
