Chinese government applauds Rogers

The manufacturer of Poron cushioning materials for footwear, Rogers Corporation, has received two honours from the Chinese government.
The first award, Level A for Labour Security, was given to Rogers for labour regulations compliance and positive management employees at its factory in the Suzhou Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province. The award is based on Rogers having met or exceeded labour compliance requirements during the last two years, including securing the support of the local Chinese labour union. Only 132 companies of the 17,000 doing business in the Suzhou Industrial Park received the Level A award. Suzhou Industrial Park is a planned industrial, commercial and residential community where thousands of companies, including many of the largest corporations in the world, have established facilities.
The Level A recognition permits award winners to extend labour-related permits by one year and to use a streamlined method for future labour audits, which reduces the frequency of audits. The Level A award also allows recipient companies to market this recognition, which can be used to attract high-calibre employees.
The second award, Jiangsu Provincial May 1, 2010 Honorary Labour Medal, was given to Rogers’ vice-president for Asia, Michael Sehnert, by the Jiangsu Labour Union Bureau for outstanding performance, achievement and contribution to society in Jiangsu Province.
“These awards mean a great deal to Rogers Corporation and we are sincerely thankful for the recognition they afford us,” said Robert Wachob, the company’s president and chief executive. “They express the feelings of our Chinese hosts that Rogers and its employees and management are viewed positively and in very good standing by the Suzhou Industrial Park, the local government and the Jiangsu provincial government. Forging an enduring presence and partnering with local businesses and communities has always been the path to success for global companies operating in China. This has certainly been the case with Rogers Corporation. In fact, our modern factory campus in Suzhou recently won our internal award for best safety performance among all our worldwide factories.”
