Mexican retailers' same-store sales rose 6.2% in May compared with the same month last year, driven by growth in the electronic goods, clothing and footwear segments.

Total sales, including sales from stores that have opened in the past year, rose 12% to 77.4 billion pesos ($6.1 billion). Sales of electronic goods rose 26% year-on-year, while clothing sales increased by 17% and shoe sales grew 23%.

The figures come from retail group Antad, whose members operate almost 19,000 stores in total.
