Positive mood in Portuguese footwear

27/05/2010
National footwear industry association APICCAPS has said that Portuguese shoe manufacturers have had a positive start to the year and that the mood among member companies is the most positive it has been for ten years.

The organisation said that business conditions in the shoe industry improved substantially in the first quarter of 2010.

In a recent survey that APICCAPS carried out around two-thirds of participating companies said their production was at a normal level for the time of year, although some mentioned difficulties in securing sufficient supply of raw materials.

Most said that business conditions were "satisfactory", but almost twice the number (17% of all those who took part) said things were good compared to those (9%) who said their situation was poor.
