Industrial sewing thread provider American & Efird (A&E) has announced that one if its partners in India, Mr S P Oswal, chairman of the Vardhman Group, has received India’s prestigious Padma Bhushan award for distinguished service in the field of trade and industry.

Mr Oswal received the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian decorations, from the country’s president, Pratibha Patil on March 31. Mr Oswal has made significant industrial and social contributions during his career including the Village Cluster Adoption Programme (a successful project focused on improving cotton farmers’ yields), the establishment of the Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce & Management, and the establishment of the Sri Aurobindo Public School, located in Baddi, India.

American & Efird and Vardhman Textiles have a prominent joint venture in India, named Vardhman Yarns and Threads Limited, that is engaged in the manufacturing, distribution and sales of sewing thread.
