February production up in Pakistan

Output figures for February for the leather industry in Pakistan show growth of 28.8% in the production of finished leather, and of 11.9% in footwear. No change was recorded in production of sole leather compared to same month last year.
Pakistan's tanners produced 1.7 million square-metres of finished leather and 17 tonnes of sole leather in February 2010. Footwear manufacturers increased their output from 2.5 million pairs the previous year to 2.8 million pairs.
For the current financial year to date, Pakistan has produced 15.4 million square-metres of finished leather, which represents a growth of 16.4 % on the same period last year.
