Amann celebrates in China

11/05/2010
Industrial thread producer Amann & Söhne has celebrated the official opening of a new twisting plant and the ground-breaking of a new sewing threads production plant in Yancheng, China.

The idea for the new facilities started in 2005 and, with the help of the Yangcheng Economic Development Zone, construction began in 2008. The activity of the first pre-winders in the twisting plant began in October 2009. The twisting plant covers an area of more than 16,000 square-metres and has a production capacity of 3,000 tonnes a year. The planned number of employees is 350.

The new sewing threads plant will be built, again with the support of the Yangcheng Economic Development Zone, on a site close to the twisting facility. Amann aims to start production there in January 2011. It will cover an area of around 14,000 square-metres, production capacity of 2,500 tonnes and 150 employees.

The company is also planning new production facilities in India. It is currently serving the Indian market through recently opened offices and warehouse facilities in Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi. These new additions have brought the number of affiliated companies and subsidiaries across the Amann group to 20 with activities covering over 100 countries around the world.
