Higher Q1 shoe exports for Guangdong
According to Guangzhou Customs, China’s Guangdong province exported 960 million pairs of shoes, worth $2.6 billion during the first quarter of 2010, up 7.7% year-on-year. However, March exports fell 22.2% to 260 million pairs.
During the first quarter, the province’s shoe exports to the US totalled $1.2 billion, up 6.6% year-on-year and accounting for 44.5% of the region’s shoe exports. Exports to the EU totalled $410 million, up 14.4% and accounting for 15.7% of Guangdong's total exports.
March exports to these two markets grew 16.7% and 0.3%, respectively, with exports to the US totalling $380 million and exports to the EU totalling $100 million.
