Satellite navigation provider ties up with Merrell

Outdoor footwear brand Merrell has announced a new commercial alliance with leading satellite navigation technology provider Garmin.
The footwear company’s marketing manager for the UK, Jonathan Pennington, said on announcing the deal that the two companies wanted to “inspire the outdoor athlete in everyone”.
One of the aims is for Garmin to learn more about the outdoor market from Merrell with a view to making its technology more readily available to walkers, hikers, mountain bikers and other outdoor enthusiasts.
The agreement only covers the UK market to begin with, but the two companies have said they are hopeful of extending it to other parts of Europe and the US next year.
